We are happy to report that we have finally been able to celebrate Mum's life with family and friends.
We met on Balmore Hill to scatter Mum's ashes around the area where we used to play the Tree Game. This was her wish and we are sure she was looking down on us as we played the game afterwards. It was great fun!
Then we went on board the Princess Marina and sailed up the Thames past Mapledurham and Whitchurch to Pangbourne. Many memories were exchanged and perhaps new friendships formed.
Dominic was not able to make it and also Mark's son, Jamie, who lives in Prague. Otherwise, all the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were present, including the youngest great grandchild, Maia, who is the latest addition to the Lord clan.
Annika, our German cousin, represented the German contingent and Richard Oppenheimer is the person who knew Mum the longest as he was six years old when Mum went to work for his mother as an au pair.
We hope you will enjoy looking at the pictures in our new story below and reading the tributes from those of you who coud not attend. There is also a letter from Katja, Bernd's daughter, which is very touching. I know many of the messages will be of interest as our mother would talk a lot about her friends. She certainly had very many!
Our dear mother passed away quickly and peacefully on Christmas Day. She will be sadly missed by her five children, Melanie, Mark, Carleton, Dominic and Adam, six grandchildren, Fran, Amy, Hannah, Alex, Jamie and Chiara, and five great grandchildren, Ella, Oskar, Zachary, Poppy and Maia.
Help grow Ute's Tribute by adding messages or memories you'd like to share.
