I first met Ute in the summer of 1962. I, together with my friend Esmail, stayed at her house, as perhaps the first lodgers. During our three months' stay we were treated as part of the family. During my stay in England for seven years I was a lodger at several places but the only person that I stayed in touch with was Ute. She was extremely kind and hospitable. I last talked to her about two weeks before Christmas and we had excellent discussions for about half an hour. I used to call her about once a month and each call was memorable. I will miss her and my heartfelt condolences to the family. Habib Dhlla, Vancouver, Canada
