Mum's first job was a cytologist in the Path Lab at the RBH. She then worked as a Ward Clerk and in Occupational Therapy at Townlands and Peppard Hospital. She said she enjoyed this work most of all working with the disabled and geriatrics (as they were referred to at that time!). Mum also worked for School Health for a time.
She worked as a volunteer at the RBH in her later life, first in the Medical Heritage Museum and then she worked on the reception desk giving people directions. She was still doing this job up to five years ago and would enjoy being driven around by the porters on the mobility vehicles. As she was such a sociable person she loved this work and was sad when she had to stop due to her failing health.
